If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?

May 31, 2005

Grow old along with me, The best is yet to be dear mommy,

happy 81st birthday. sorry kung hindi ka namin makakasama ngayon. kung pwede lang sanang mag jeep papunta diyan sa novaliches from singapore, eh di mamaya sanang pagkatapos ng trabaho, diretso kami ni jet diyan sa bahay ninyo. kaya lang, mayrong south china sea na naghihiwalay sa atin. sayang. di bale, uuwi naman kami ngayong june at pag dating namin, punta na lang tayo sa tagaytay para makapag enjoy naman kayo kahit papaano. o baka gusto mo namang magpa liposuction sa clinic ni vicky bello? sagot kita! you deserve to have a break. kayo kasi, masyadong mapagmahal sa mga anak ninyo at apo. ayan tingnan ninyo tuloy, hanggang ngayon nag-aalaga ka pa rin sa kanila. dapat nagpupunta ka na lang araw araw sa parlor ni bien sa talipapa para magpakulot o kaya magpamanicure o facial. pero hindi, ikaw pa rin nagluluto ng pagkain nila. ikaw pa rin ang peacemaker. ikaw pa rin ang umaalalay. kung sabagay, alam ko naman na isa ito sa mga nagpapalakas sa iyo. pinaka exercise mo na siguro ang pagsilbi sa mga mahal mo sa buhay. i know everybody loves you for all the big and little things that you do. eh sa akin lang, ang laking bagay ang ginawa mong pag alaga sa akin. especially nung umalis na ang daddy sa bahay. ikaw umasikaso sa pagpapa aral sa akin. ni hindi ko alam kung kanino ka nanghingi ng pera para lang matapos ako. looking back, it must have been hard for you during those days. i know i was having fun and living a normal life when you were probably so busy thinking about how we’d move from one day to the next. ngayon ko lang ito na appreciate ng husto. alam ko hindi ko ito magagantihan but i just try my best by being a good son.

so how does it feel to be 81? alam ko gusto mo pang mabuhay ng matagal. sana nga you live as long as you want to na punong puno ng katatawanan at kaligayahan. actually, hindi ka naman mukhang 81. sabi nga ng mga kaibigan ko, parang 55 ka lang. hehehe… naalala ko tuloy, inis na inis ka pag tinatawag kang lola o kaya inang. kaya yan tuloy – mommy ang tawag sa iyo ng lahat ng tao. happy birthday ulit mommy. maraming salamat sa lahat ng ginawa mo para sa amin.

with so much love, ang iyong bunsoy na kwarenta anyos na ngayon taon.

And a good son you continue to be mylab. My favorite metaphor for you still holds true… that not only did you grow and bear fruit, but a whole forest sprung up where you stood. For that, you remain her fortress.

    Happy birthday Mommy! 🙂

  2. hello mylab. a whole forest and a fortress. wow. if that were true, 50% ang sa iyo doon. tagal nyo raw nag usap kanina, sabi ng mommy. tumawag na rin ako this morning.

  13. Dr Emer Says:

Your post title came from Milton Berle and it says a lot on the real role mothers play in the lives of their children. Tama ka. Dapat octupus na ang mga mothers. Pero di ba nakakatakot naman yun? Seriously, I’d like to add another quote from a great poet and author:

“The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men — from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms.”

  14. Don Lorenzo & Kuya Imo Says:

Perskasin Batjay, Maligayang kaarawan kay Mommy! Ang beauty niya ay wala paring kupas. All the best po sa inyo…god bless!!! Kainan na!!!

  16. Haring David Says:

ayos doc, ang galing mo talaga. para ngang octopus, pero more like that indian god – ano ba yon: Siva, and Ganesh who had multiple hands. ang galing din ng mother quote mo. eto pang isa:

“All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That’s his. ”
    ~Oscar Wild

  17. g Says:

wow so touching! sana pagdating ng araw my son Raine will think that i am worthy enough of a tribute close to this.
yan talga yata ang tanging pride ng mga nanay…when they’ve proved to world that they’ve raised great men and women of their sons and daughters. mabuhay ka manong batjay!
at ang iyong mommy of course.

  18. glo Says:

    -glo not g

  19. Isip Bata Says:

    ate glo!!!

maraming pinag daanan ang mommy ko para lang magkaroon ako ng regular na childhood. nag split kasi sila ng daddy ko when i was 13 and all along, my mom was the one who found the money for our food and my studies. she’s a tough lady, and at 81, she’s still at it, making sure that the family is ok.

i’m sure your son will turn out ok.

If she raised a sweet son like you, she must be really great.

  24. The Ca t Says:

    Unkyel Batjay,

Maswerte ang mommy mo for having a son like you.

hi jmom. oo nga, my mom looks a lot younger than her age. she’s still strong and still feisty.

  39. correction ka junnie. 42 na ang mommy ko when she had me. kaya yan tuloy – totally insane ako. na inggit kasi ang mga parents ko sa ate ko na buntis nung 1965. kaya yon humabol sila kaya dumating ako sa mundo.
